my story

I’m Eddie Ficklin Jr., a passionate football coach, energetic motivator, and innovative teacher. I’m the only son of my mother and father and the middle brother of six sisters. My passion for football started at an early age and grew into my purpose after playing in middle and high school, and college. Keep reading to learn more about my story.

  • My passion is to work hard, lead, and take varsity football programs to new heights. I achieve this by taking responsibility for every action in and around my football program; that means on and off the field. I value culture and accountability and believe it all starts with me.   • I believe the game of football holds fundamental truths. It is a physical and violent game. Generally, the more physical team wins. At the core of my belief is this: It does not take one ounce of God-given ability to give one hundred percent effort. I take advantage of matchups and put our men in the best position to win games. As a football coach, I’m happy to offer various football training packages for students in grades 7 through 12.

As a motivator, I’m available to speak at conferences, schools, and events about athletic career planning, gang violence and prevention, student-athlete success, and general motivation.

As a teacher, I’m currently employed in the STEAM department at a Catholic high school in Los Angeles, CA.
