Philosophy
winning is a means of measuring success
but not the only means
there are some more important than winning
The great thing about the game of football, at the high school level, is that work ethic and character development are far more important than winning. But if these things are being implemented, then the chances of having a winning season are very good. And when you coach this game well, prioritizing the players and lessons the right way, you become so much more than a coach to your players. You become a positive influence in their lives. You become a mentor.
Building a
Program
Building a program takes time. It is a process, and one that varies by coach. I believe the foundational parts of building a program are as follows:
Player buy-in
Parent, athletic department, and administration support
Football alumni involvement
Establishing culture
Connecting with the community
